Baby's First Cold

3/25/10

Jocelyn officially has her first cold.  It started Monday with a snotty nose, then last night it got worse and she started to cough.  So this morning I took her to the doctor, and I was happy to hear that her lungs and heart sounded great, her ears looked nice and clean, and no fever.  Unfortunately that means that she has a cold, and at her age there is nothing to do but let it run its course.  The doctor did suggest using Saline drops to get her to sneeze her gunk out, as well as taking a hot steamy shower before bed, and trying to prop up her matress so she doesn't sleep flat on her back at night, hopefully allowing her to breath and sleep better.  We are supposed to keep an eye on her, and if her coughing gets worse, or she gets a fever, we are supposed to take her back in.  We'll keep you updated!

Elephant!

3/23/10

You won't believe it, but neither do we!  Jocelyn said her first word today!  ELEPHANT!  While I was at the doctors today, Great Grandma and Grandpa were watching Jocelyn, and when I got home they told me how they were watching Baby Einstein.  When the elephants came on, they said they repeated the word "elephant" to Jocelyn and then she said it.  I didn't believe them, but when we were feeding Jocelyn at the dinner table, she was just babbling so we were trying to get her to say "mama" or "dada" but she wouldn't say either.  So we both jokingly said "elephant," then Jocelyn mumbled "elephant"!  Jim and I just looked at each other in complete and utter disbelief, then started cracking up laughing!  We tried to get her to say it again, but we couldn't get her to!  So, our daughter's first word wasn't mama, dada, or baba, it was ELEPHANT!

7 Months Old!

3/21/2010

My baby is growing up!  Today she turned 7 months old!  I've said it before and I'll say it again... boy does the time fly!  But I swear Jocelyn is getting cuter by the minute!  She is always doing something to make Jim and I crack up!  We love how her little personality is starting to shine! She is definitely our little "grabby gus," and is always trying to grab whatever is in front of her, and when she does, it goes straight to her mouth!  The way she is always chewing on everything, you'd think she has a tooth coming, but we have yet to see one!  She has also become our little bouncer!  She loves to jump and bounce while she's in her activity jumper and when she's not!  She really has some strong legs and we're surprised she's not crawling yet!  We think she's getting close though.  Recently she started rolling over from back to tummy and tummy to back, but now she can do it in a snap!  We love her so much and are constantly overwhelmed with how much joy she brings to us!  We are so blessed to have such a beautiful little baby in our lives!

Here are a few pictures of Jocelyn over the past month!

Crawl Practice!

3/09/2010

Now that Jocelyn is rolling over like a champ, our next goal is to crawl!  Therefore we have daily crawling practices!  =0)  She does very well, but can't quite figure out how to go anywhere, and does get frustrated!  She can scoot backwards, and spin herself on her belly though!

So close, yet so far!

This is so frustrating!

Kota, I don't know how you do it!

Snack Time!

3/08/10

We recently started giving Jocelyn Cheerios and Gerber Puffs and she loves them!  She is getting really good at picking them up and putting them in her mouth, and loves being able to feed herself!

Trip to Boulder

3/05/10

Today we drove up to Boulder to have lunch with Uncle Curtis!  Jocelyn slept the whole way up, but woke up right when we got there!  We picked up Uncle Curtis and headed to Noodles for lunch!  Jocelyn kept trying to eat my mac and cheese, and kept trying to steal my silverware, but other than that, lunch was good!  Afterwards we headed back to Uncle Curtis's house and hung out with him for awhile.  I was very surprise that Jocelyn didn't like him at all!  Maybe it was all his hair, I don't know! ;o)  All in all we had fun and were very happy to see Uncle Curtis!

Magic Sleepsuit UPDATE!

3/05/10

So many of you have been having questions about Jocelyn's sleepsuit!  Basically it looks like a snowsuit, but is has no hood, no mittens, and it doesn't have any footies!  The purpose of it is to make baby feel nice and warm and snug so they sleep better!  You can either put baby in it with a onesie on or just their diaper, plus sockies!  Because it has been colder lately we make sure to put socks on both her feet and hands!  Another great thing is that since it is heavier than normal pajamas, it prevent baby from being able to flap their arms and kick their legs, which we all know can cause baby to wake up in the night!

Jocelyn LOVES her sleepsuit!  She knows that it's bed/naptime when she has it on, and she actually gets excited when we lay her down in her crib because she knows we will be putting in on her soon!  Once she is all sipped up she usually turns her head to the side, looking away, and by the the time Jim or I get to the door to turn out the lights, she is out!  I'm not sure how long she could sleep in it for naptime, but I have only let her take 2 1/2 hour naps in it.  As for nighttime, she usually goes to bed around 7pm and won't wake up until 6:30-7am!  It has been very nice for Jim and I to both get a full nights rest!  We are so glad that we invested in the Magic Sleepsuit, and would highly reccommend to anyone!

I have yet to take a picture of her in it, but when I do I will be sure to post it!

Dr. Seuss Party

3/04/10

Today was Dr. Seuss's birthday, so to celebrate we headed over to our friend Abby and Macy's house to celebrate with some of our StrollerFit friends!  We had yummy Dr. Seuss treats, read some Dr. Seuss books, then headed outside to blow some bubbles!  We all were supposed to bring a book to share, so we brought "Are You My Mother?", my all time favorite Dr. Seuss book!  It was a lot of fun, and Jocelyn had fun playing with her friend Lydia!  They are so cute together!

No more Swim Class

3/03/10

Jocelyn's swim classes are officially over, but she really enjoyed them!  With each class she became more comfortable in the water, and it showed by her increase in kicking on her own, and her decrease in sensitivity to getting water in her face!  After learning some tricks of the trade, we decided to suspend paying for lessons for now, but will continue to take her to the pool as often as we can on our own for now!  Here are some pictures from a few of Jocelyn's classes, courtesy of Great Grandpa Dave and Great Grandma Sue who came to every class!

Checking to see if G-Grandpa and G-Grandma are still watching!

First Hiking Trip!

2/26/10

Recently I joined a group called Colorado Mountain Mamas, which is basically a group of moms who love spending time outdoors with their little ones!  Anyway, today they were hiking up Green Mountain, so Jocelyn and decided to go with since it was so close!  It was chilly out, so I wrapped Jocelyn up in her snowsuit.  It was actually the first time she has worn it since we got it!  Well, at least other than trying it on!  The sad thing is that I don't think she will be able to wear it again because she is so tall!  Anyway, it was nice because the hike guide had some spare baby hiking carriers and let me borrow one.  Jocelyn cried and cried when I was trying to put her in the carrier, but not even two minutes after she was buckled in, she completely crashed!  Fifteen minutes later our group of 15 moms and babies left the parking lot for our 2 mile hike!  Jocelyn slept the entire sleep and only woke up when it was time to take her out of the carrier!  Overall it was a fun outing, although trudging up the mountain in about 2 inches of snow was pretty tough!  I was able to meet other moms who love to be outdoors which was very nice!  We will definitely be going hiking with them again!
