Bad Rash

4/5/2010

On Thursday morning I noticed that Jocelyn had a diaper rash.  It wasn't bad, but it was pretty red all over, so I put lots of diaper rash cream on it hoping that would make it better.  Unfortunatley it didn't help enough, the next day she had red blotches all over her poor little bum.  Jim and I tried different creams over the weekend, but nothing was working, and sadly her rash had gotten worse.  It went from red blotches to open sores. =0\  So today I took her into the doctor.  They said that it was most likely from her urine and/or bowel being very acidic.  Apparently this means that she could be teething.  Anyway, she prescribed a cream which we are supposed ot put on every diaper change, in addition to putting Neosporin on first for 2 changes a day.  I really hope this works because it is so heartbreaking when Jocelyn cries bloody murder when you're trying to change her diaper to make her feel better!  We are supposed to call back Friday if there haven't been any significant changes!  We'll keep you updated!

Baby's 1st Easter!

4/4/2010

Today we headed over to Great-Grandma and Great-Grandpa's house for Easter lunch/dinner!  Grandma Tammy and Uncle Curtis were there too!  And the best part was that the Easter Bunny left lots of gifts for Jocelyn!  She got the Princess and the Frog DVD, a very cute sun dress, a box of Cheerios (yum!), new toys, crawling lessons from Great-Grandpa and more!  We had a great day!

(Pictures coming soon!)

Fun at the Park!

3/31/2010

So today we were very excited that our StrollerFit class would be outside at the park, but when we got there we couldn't find anybody!  We knew they were there because we saw Abby's car, but we walked around the park and couldn't find them anywhere!  Later we found out that there is another side to the park where there is a basketball court, and that's where they were!  Oh well!  Anyway, we jogged around the lake then stopped at the playground!  We played on the swings, and went down the slides a few times!  I think Jocelyn had fun!

Baby's First Cold

3/25/10

Jocelyn officially has her first cold.  It started Monday with a snotty nose, then last night it got worse and she started to cough.  So this morning I took her to the doctor, and I was happy to hear that her lungs and heart sounded great, her ears looked nice and clean, and no fever.  Unfortunately that means that she has a cold, and at her age there is nothing to do but let it run its course.  The doctor did suggest using Saline drops to get her to sneeze her gunk out, as well as taking a hot steamy shower before bed, and trying to prop up her matress so she doesn't sleep flat on her back at night, hopefully allowing her to breath and sleep better.  We are supposed to keep an eye on her, and if her coughing gets worse, or she gets a fever, we are supposed to take her back in.  We'll keep you updated!

Elephant!

3/23/10

You won't believe it, but neither do we!  Jocelyn said her first word today!  ELEPHANT!  While I was at the doctors today, Great Grandma and Grandpa were watching Jocelyn, and when I got home they told me how they were watching Baby Einstein.  When the elephants came on, they said they repeated the word "elephant" to Jocelyn and then she said it.  I didn't believe them, but when we were feeding Jocelyn at the dinner table, she was just babbling so we were trying to get her to say "mama" or "dada" but she wouldn't say either.  So we both jokingly said "elephant," then Jocelyn mumbled "elephant"!  Jim and I just looked at each other in complete and utter disbelief, then started cracking up laughing!  We tried to get her to say it again, but we couldn't get her to!  So, our daughter's first word wasn't mama, dada, or baba, it was ELEPHANT!
